Thalaivii Release Date: Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivii is based on the life of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa. The story revolves around the legendary politician and actor's struggles in the entertainment industry and later her stint in politics. Arvind Swami has been roped in to play the role of AIADMK leader MGR. He is often considered as Amma‘s inspiration and love interest. The film also stars Bhagyashree, Nassar and Madhu.

Directed by AL Vijay, the movie required Ranaut to undergo transformation.
In an interview, she mentioned that she had to gain 20 kgs for the movie and do Bharatanatyam. In the process, she damaged her back but didn't want her work to get affected. The makers of the film Thalaivii released the second song"> Teri Aankhon Mein recently. The playback is by Armaan Malik and Prajakta Shukre. It features Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami and is a romantic number. Read more about the song here.
The film was also embroiled in a controversy when late Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister’s niece J Deepa had filed a petition asking for a ban on the film. It was, however, rejected by Madras High Court. Read more about it here.

Thalaivii will hit the theatres on September 10, 2021. It was supposed to release on April 23 but go delayed due to the second wave of coronavirus.
