Anu wants to join IAS to change lives of women and children

Anu Kumari, 31, who belongs to Sonipat, is the topper among female candidates. She completed her Honours in Physics from the Delhi University and has done an MBA (Finance and Marketing) from IMT, Nagpur. Anu, with an overall second rank, wants to join the IAS and stay in the country to change the lives of women and children here.

She is married to a businessman and has a four-year-old son. She quit her job in Gurgaon two years ago to focus on her preparation to attempt the civil service examination. It was while she was working when she realised, everything in her job had become mechanical. She wanted to do things differently. Therefore, she decided to quit and work where she would be able to contribute to the society.

In 2016, she first attempted the exams with just two months of preparation. She feels happy that she cleared it this time as next year would have been her last attempt because of the age limit.

“Since I have got this amazing opportunity now, I would like to make most of it and work for women’s empowerment.”
