I Feel Really Angry At Being Dragged Into This Mess: Huma Qureshi On Anurag Kashyap Controversy

Huma Qureshi warns Anurag Kashyap

Bollywood actresses Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha and Mahie Gill's too have been dragged into the Anurag Kashyap controversy now. Payel Ghosh the actor who alleged sexual misconduct by Kashyap has said that the director reportedly told her “whenever I call them (referring to the female actresses named here), they come running and s**k my c**k.” In response to the shocking revelation, Huma Qureshi broke her silence and said that she is very angry at her name being dragged into the "mess".

Qureshi, who worked with Kashyap for Gangs of Wasseypur, took to Twitter on Tuesday to share her statement. She wrote: “Anurag and I last worked together in 2012-13 and he is a dear friend and an extremely talented director. In my personal experience and to my knowledge he has neither misbehaved with me or anyone else. However, anyone who claims to be abused must report it to the authorities, the police and the judiciary.”

Qureshi shared her personal experience with the filmmaker and said that he never "misbehaved" with her. On Saturday, Ghosh took to Twitter and accused Kashyap of sexual misconduct.

Ghosh, in an interview with ABN Telugu said, “I went to meet him (Anurag Kashyap) and the next day when he took me to the other room, he opened his zip and tried to force his c**k inside my v****a by opening nada of my salwar kameez. He said it was okay and all the actresses who worked with him such as Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha, Mahi Gill, they are just a call away.”

The Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi actress Ghosh tweeted:

Reacting to her accusations, Qureshi said that she does not want to get into "social media fights" so she "chose not to comment till now." Calling it media trials, Qureshi further added, "I feel really angry at being dragged into this mess. I feel angry not just for myself but also every woman whose years of hard work and struggle gets reduced to such baseless conjecture and allegations in their workplace. Please let’s refrain from this narrative. It is the joint responsibility of women and men both to carefully protect the sanctity of #MeToo. This is my final response. Please do not approach me to make any more statements on this matter.”

Richa Chadha released a formal statement saying, "No woman can be allowed to misuse their liberties to harass other women with unsubstantiated or non-existent, false and baseless allegations." She sent a legal notice to Ghosh through her lawyer for being "unnecessarily and falsely dragged in a defamatory manner".

Many Bollywood celebrities like Taapsee Pannu and ex-wife Kalki Koechlin have come out in defence of the director. On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut has come out in support of Payal Ghosh.
