Payal Ghosh, in an interview with ABN Telugu said, “I went to meet him (Anurag Kashyap) and the next day when he took me to the other room, he opened his zip and tried to force his c**k inside my v****a by opening nada of my salwar kameez. He said it was okay and all the actresses who worked with him such as Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha, Mahi Gill, they are just a call away.”

The Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi actress Ghosh levied these allegations against Kashyap on Saturday evening on Twitter. She tagged the Prime Minister of India in her tweet and wrote:

According to Ghosh, Kashyap told her “whenever I call them (referring to the female actresses), they come running and s**k my c**k.”

Richa Chadha issues statement

Richa Chadha has now issued a statement, condemning the act of her name being dragged into allegations raised by third parties "unnecessarily" and "falsely". She added that though "genuinely wronged women" should get justice at all cost, "some legislations are intended to ensure that women have equal standing in their workplace and to ensure that they have a cordial workplace in which their dignity and self-respect is protected."

Reportedly, Ghosh will be filing an FIR against Kashyap at Oshiwara Police Station today. Speaking to ANI, she said that her "security is at risk" and recalled, "Five years ago I met Anurag Kashyap regarding work. He called me to his house. When I went there, he took me to a separate room and tried to sexually assault me. He forced himself on me."

Ghosh requested the authorities to "take action and let the country see the demon behind this creative guy. I am aware that it can harm me and my security is at risk. I am seeking action against him."

Reacting to the allegations, Kashyap responded on Twitter saying they were "baseless". "I neither behave like this nor do I ever tolerate this at any price," he said in a statement.

Mahie Gill responds to Ghosh's allegations as well

Another actress named in Ghosh's tweet, Mahie Gill also responded to Ghosh's accusations against Kashyap and clarified that the filmmaker never asked for sexual favours from her. Gill told Hindustan Times, “I really don’t want to get into this rut... there’s already so much negativity happening around us...its very easy to take names just because he launched us.. all I want to say is that I’ve known Anurag for a long time now. We may not be in touch but I’m sure Anurag can never ever speak like this about any of his actors. This is my statement and I don’t want to speak any further on this.

Critically acclaimed director and producer of films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Queen, Gulaal, and Masaan, Kashyap found himself in a fix when in 2018 director Vikas Bahl's name was implicated in India's #MeToo movement. Kashyap, who co-founded production house Phantom Films with Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena, had his company dissolved after the #MeToo allegations against Bahl. Two years back, Kashyap and Motwane had issued separate statements stating that they believe Bahl is guilty of the allegations levelled against him.

Denying the Ghosh's allegations, Kashyap tweeted: “Kya baat hai, itna samay le liya mujhe chup karwane ki koshish mein. Chalo koi nahin. Mujhe chup karaate karaate itna jhooth bol gaye ki aurat hote hue doosri auraton ko bhi sang ghaseet liya. Thodi toh maryada rakhiye, madam. Bas yahi kahunga ki jo bhi aarop hain aap ke sab bebuniyaad hain (Wow, it took you so long to try to silence me. Never mind. In the process of silencing me, you dragged other women in this, despite being a woman. Please have some dignity, madam. All I want to say is that every allegation is baseless)."
