Mary Kom Meets Young Fan: Mary Kom had lost to Colombian boxer Ingrit Valencia at Tokyo Olympics 2020. Her defeat shattered the hopes of many of her fans including a young girl who was seen crying inconsolably due to the same. The pugilist recently met this young fan of hers. "I've found my new fan and follower for boxing who really cheers and cried for me during #Tokyo2020", read the caption of the tweet.
Netizens are praising her for her lovely gesture. Many are also referring to the young girl as next Mary Kom in the making. She had also shared the video of the girl on her Instagram account. It was her ardent desire to meet her young fan. She managed to find the whereabouts of the girl and met her. “Dear sisters, I will give you a hug and salute you if I got a chance for a meeting. If you are interested in any sports/boxing, I will be very happy to help you.”, was the caption of her video.
It is heartening to see young girls seeking inspiration in these sportspersons. One such little girl is fellow weightlifter Satish Sivalingam’s younger daughter who mimicked Mirabai Chanu's Olympic lift. In the video, she is seen lifting weights and imitating Chanu as if she were receiving the silver medal. A television screen can be seen behind her showing Mirabai’s victory clipping from Olympics.
Weighlifter Mirabai Chanu also responded to the video saying that the girl was really cute and she loved her video.
In a recent interview, Boxing Champion Mary Kom told a reporter that she plans to play till she turns 40.
