So, book your dates. Here are a few films we churned out for you to add to your calendar right now.

Padman

It’s a story of a man fighting for women’s right. Akshay Kumar starrer, earns a special place in this list because it packages a strong social message. ‘Padman' is based on the real-life journey of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who created the first low-cost machine for making sanitary napkins. Directed by R. Balki, it has two strong women, Twinkle Khanna and Gauri Shinde as producers. It also stars Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor. The man who fought to spread awareness around menstrual hygiene in rural India will see you on-screen on 26 January.

Padmavati

Now that the most controversial film of the year has finally been given a UA certification, we can’t wait for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’. As per reports, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) wants a few modifications to be made before its release including a change in title to Padmavat. The makers are yet to announce the date of release. The film was scheduled for a December 2017 release, but was deferred, thanks to mass protests. It’s a story based on the braveheart Rani Padmini of Chittor, who committed Johar (self-immolation) rather than being captured by Alauddin Khalji.

This year Kangana Ranaut will be seen in the biographical epic based on the life of Rani Laxmibai. The film is directed by National Award-winning Telugu director Krish and is scheduled for release on 27 April. The Queen Of Jhansi has been embroiled lots of expectation since the queen of Bollywood had failed to make an impact with her performance through any of her films in 2017. Well, we are expecting a lot!

Raazi

Directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Karan Johar, Raazi is the story of Sehmat, based on Harinder Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’. The film is set in the backdrop of Indo-Pak war of 1971, and revolves around a Kashmiri spy. Alia Bhatt will be seen in a completely different avatar as a woman spy who marries a Pakistani officer with the intention to source out intelligence details and pass it off to Indian forces. The film will probably release in May 2018.

Pari

When back in 2017 Anushka Sharma gave us a sneak peek of her third home production Pari’s mischievous first look, as fans we were both shocked and excited. It is expected to be a horror comedy directed by Prosit Roy, also starring Kahaani fame Parambrata Chatterjee. The story-line of the film has not been revealed yet, but the haunting look of Anushka Sharma gets us hooked instantly. The film arrives in theaters on 9 February.

Hichki

Rani Mukerji is back to the big screen with another powerful performance. In this film, she will be playing a teacher suffering from the Tourette syndrome, a neuropsychiatric disorder (broadly called hichki). The film revolves around how the teacher deals with the ordeal of teaching a class full of indisciplined students. Hichki is the remake of the Hollywood film, 'First Of The Class'.

Rani Mukherji is coming back post her maternity and the trailer has already garnered her love. The Sidharth Malhotra directed film will release on 23 February.

Veeray Di Wedding

What's special about this movie is its cast. The multi-starrer film will give a center stage to the sisters and their bonding. The four women played by Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania will be a blast of the year. The film releases on 18th May 2018.
