UP Woman Shoots Daughter-In-Law Over Household Chores

A woman was shot dead by her mother-in-law while she was sleeping in the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, the mother-in-law allegedly killed the woman, Komal, over a dispute about household chores.

The police added that the initial investigation suggests that dowry and difference in status could have been motivated behind the murder.

The accused, Radhika Devi was arrested alongside the deceased woman's father-in-law Narendra Singh, and husband Amit Kumar.

Woman Shoots Daughter-In-Law 

Amroha Superintendent of Police Aditya Langeh said that the three were arrested and sent to jail. He added that a case had been registered against the accused under sections 498 (a), 323, 304 (b), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 3/4 of the Dowry Act. 

The case was registered based on Komal's mother's complaint. 

The late Komal had got married to Amit around a year and a half ago. 

As per a report by the Times of India, 60-year-old Radhika Devi confessed to the crime and the police believe that her fear of losing her son was the primary motive behind the murder.

During the interrogation, Devi alleged that after Komal and Amit shifted to a separate house, she made her husband do all of the household work and banned her mother-in-law from entering the home.

The police said the three accused planned to murder the woman. Radhika Devi allegedly entered the home while she was sleeping and shot her dead. The police added that Devi then ransacked the home to make the murder appear as a robbery attempt gone wrong. 

Similar Case

Recently, a man beheaded his daughter-in-law after an argument and surrendered to the police. 

The 62-year-old man walked into the police station and revealed that he hacked the deceased to death following a family dispute.

The deceased woman was identified as Priyanka Singh. 

The accused, Raghuveer Singh confessed to the crime and his son, the deceased woman's husband Gaurav Singh, a police constable, was not present during the incident. 

Gaurav Singh was on duty in Farrukhabad when the heinous crime took place. 

The accused alleged that his two daughters-in-law were fighting when he attempted to intervene. He was kicked by Priyanka, which caused him to fall, and then attacked her with an axe.
