J&K Woman Gives Birth In Army Vehicle: A pregnant woman from Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district was taken to the hospital in the army vehicle due to a roadblock due to snowfall. Due to emergency conditions, the woman gave birth to her child inside the army vehicle. She was later moved to a hospital.

As per reports, on early Monday, an ASHA worker (Accredited Social Health Activist) appointed by the village to interface between the community and the public made a call to Kalaroos Company Commander in distress. The ASHA worker requested the commander for an urgent evacuation of the woman in labour to the hospital, as the ambulance was unreachable due to snowfall.

The army vehicle accompanied by a medical team was immediately sent to Narikoot in the Kupwara district to evacuate the patient. However, the ASHA worker requested the vehicle to park by the roadside as the woman’s condition was getting critical.

With the help of the Army Medical team, she carried out the delivery inside the vehicle. A baby's cry from inside the vehicle announced the child’s arrival into the world and brought joy to everyone involved in the delivery. The mother and her newborn were later shifted to Kalaroos Hospital in Kupwara district.

Kalaroos Company Commander congratulated the family with gifts and felicitated the Asha Worker, for her bravery in odd circumstances and confidence in Army Medics. J&K Woman Gives Birth In Army Vehicle

The Company Operating Base (COB) Bunawadar of the Indian Army helped a pregnant woman in north Kashmir reach the hospital by carrying her through knee-deep snow for over two kilometres. COB had received a distress call from the woman’s husband Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh who lives in Pharkian village. In the call, Shiekh said that his wife had been experiencing labour and had to be taken to a hospital.

The army troops, accompanied by a battlefield nursing assistant reached Shiekh’s home along with medical comfort items. As per the source, the army troops then escorted the pregnant woman and her family for about two kilometres to the road head, from where she was taken to Karalpura hospital. “On reaching hospital, the woman was immediately attended by the medical staff, who were ready due to the coordination of the Indian Army with the civil administration.” Read about it more here.
