The video of a heart-warming gesture of a cop helping a destitute woman in Andhra Pradesh has gone viral on social media. Maruti Prasad, working as a police constable at Gooty police station in Anantapur district, was passing by the highway near the town when he spotted a destitute woman. She was sitting on the side of the road and shivering in cold weather when the Anantapur Police Constable reached out to her.

I is good to see cops coming forward to help less privileged people when they are on-duty. Sub-inspector Kotturu Sirisha of Kasibugga police in Andhra Pradesh was in news recently when she received a distress call about the demise of a homeless person in the fields in Adavikotturu. None of the locals came forward to carry the homeless man. That's when SI Sirisha carried the dead body of an 80-year-old unknown person on her shoulders for more than one kilometre.

According to TOI reports, the incident took place in a village on the outskirts of Sampangipuram in Kasibugga-Palasa. “We noticed the body of an unknown person, aged around 80 years, who locals said was a beggar. But bringing the body from the fields to the vehicle was difficult as there was no path to the road. We requested the villagers but no one came forward,” Sirisha told TOI.

According to Sirisha, the dead deserve dignity too. I only did my duty. Andhra cop carries dead body of homeless man.

She found it challenging to get the body to the vehicle as it was located in the farms. Sirisha requested villagers to help but none came forward “It is likely the man died due to starvation as he was very frail and weak,” she said. Read more about it here.
