Actress Shraddha Kapoor is all set to essay the role of a naagin in an upcoming trilogy directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Nikhil Dwivedi under the banner Saffron Broadcast & Media Ltd. She took to Twitter to share the news with her followers. The makers have not disclosed the release date for the trilogy’s first instalment yet.

Kapoor expressed her “delight” at playing the role of an icchadhari naagin that is “rooted in Indian traditional folklore.” Additionally, she mentioned being an ardent fan of late actress Sridevi’s portrayal of the shape-shifting serpent in movies like Nagina and Nigahen.

Vishal Furia is currently directing the Hindi remake of his 2017 Marathi horror film Lapachhapi. “It will be lovely to direct you as ‘Nagin’.. you will totally rock it coz of your belief.. together we’ll create a totally magical ‘Indian’ story of an ‘Indian’ female mythical super-character.. welcome aboard @ShraddhaKapoor @Nikhil_Dwivedi @saffronbrdmedia,” he wrote in response to Kapoor’s tweet.

Actor-producer Nikhil Dwiwedi also tweeted a tongue-in-cheek reply to Kapoor’s announcement. He wrote that Kapoor was “too nice to play” the role of a naagin ad had hopefully met a few real-life ‘naagins’ to help her for character research.

Currently, there is no confirmed news regarding the male lead. In a statement, Kapoor said that she’s excited to portray such an “iconic character” that “has always been so fascinating for the audiences.” The actress last played the role of a supernatural being in Raj & DK’s horror-comedy Stree (2018). The movie received critical acclaim as well as box-office success. Earlier this year, she appeared in Baaghi 3 alongside Tiger Shroff.
