Shilpa Shetty recently posted a story on Instagram, where she announced that her famous restaurant Bastian in Bandra is shutting down. The news caused a frenzy among loyal fans of the eatery. The restaurant is a popular celebrity hotspot, and celebs with their close ones would often be spotted by the paparazzi.
This came amid reports that the actress-entrepreneur and her husband, Raj Kundra, are under the radar for an alleged ₹60 crore fraud. Shilpa broke her silence with a video, clarifying that Bastian was "going nowhere" and that a new South Indian restaurant will soon open at the same location. She added that Bastian is set to relaunch in Juhu as 'Bastian Beach Club' with an "exciting transformation".
Shilpa Announces Some Exciting Developments In Bastian
She shared that their Bandra outlet will be opening a South Indian restaurant, Ammakai. A nod to her roots, the menu would be a curated Manglorean cuisine. Bastian would undergo an exciting relaunch in Juhu as Bastian Beach Club. Posting the video, Shilpa also asked people not to turn their love for the restaurant ‘toxic’.
Shilpa captioned her Instagram post as, "Bandra Bastian was the root of our tree called Bastian Hospitality. Like a tree blooms with new fruits, our favourite Bandra restaurant is giving way to a new one called AMMAKAI, South Indian Mangalorean cuisine, taking me back to my roots. Your favourite Bastian is going to Juhu, with the name of Bastian Beach Club (sic).”
She also credited her long-time business partner, Ranjeet Bindra, writing, "So Bastian is staying, going nowhere! Full credit to my brother, partner and CEO of our enterprise, Ranjeet Bindra @ranjeetbindra, for having this vision of transforming the hospitality business with his expertise and passion at this scale. God speed (sic).”
Shilpa Shetty has made her mark as a businesswoman by co-owning the Bastian chain of restaurants in Mumbai. In 2019, she acquired a 50% stake in Bastian Hospitality. The luxurious restaurant, previously located in Bandra West, was known for its high-end dining experience.
