In a cheating case, the Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued a bailable warrant for actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra's mother, Sunanda Shetty, on Tuesday. After the actor's mother failed to appear in court in a breach of trust case filed against them, Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate R. R. Khan issued the warrant, as per reports.

The proceedings against actor Shilpa Shetty and her sister Shamita Shetty in the same case were halted by a session court in the city on Monday, while the proceedings against the mother will continue at the lower court.

The sessions judge had stopped the proceedings on Monday, observing that the late Surendra Shetty, the sisters' father, and Sunanda were partners in the firm, but the complainant had not produced any documents proving that Shilpa and Shamita Shetty were also partners in the firm.

The complainant also failed to show that the sisters were concerned about the loan amount and that their aim from the start of the transaction was to defraud him.

“No doubt there are several factual and legal aspects involved which need judicial inquiry on merit. Hence, the order passed by the trial court against applicant Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Shamita Shetty whereby the process issued is hereby stayed against them,” said the sessions court, adding that, the magistrate court can proceed against Shetty.

Sunanda Shetty's counsel filed an exemption motion before the magistrate court in Andheri on Tuesday, but it was contested by Y & A Legal's Zain Shroff and Zubin Sheth, who stood for complainant Parshad Firoze Amra. They even applied for a non-bailable warrant to be issued against her. In response to their petition, the court issued a Rs. 1,000 bailable warrant against Sunanda Shetty, adjourning the case until April 12, 2022, for the report of a bailable warrant.

Shilpa's father, Surendra Shetty, was killed by a car accident. Parshad Firoze Amra, the owner of a car agency, said that he had given a loan of Rs 21 lakh to Corgifts, a Shetty family concern, but that he had not been paid the money.

On February 11, the metropolitan magistrate court issued a procedure against the sisters and their mother in response to Amra's accusation of criminal breach of trust, cheating, and other offences.
