26-Year-Old Television Actress Accuses Casting Director Of Rape, Mumbai Police Registers FIR

Mumbai police have registered an FIR against a casting director for allegedly raping a 26-year-old television actress. As per reports, the survivor filed a complaint at Versova Police Station on November 26. An investigation is underway in the case and so far no arrest has been made, a Versova police official said on Monday. The actress has alleged that that casting director raped her for over two years under false promises of marriage.

Maharashtra: A case registered at Versova Police Station in Mumbai, against a casting director, for allegedly raping a TV actress. The case was registered on the basis of the victim's statement, further investigation is underway.

As per a report by APB News, the accused casting director has been identified as Ayush Tiwari and has been booked on the charges of rape. The actress, who has reportedly worked in a web-series as well as television, alleged that the director has raped her several times in different locations in the city after promising to marry her, the official said. The survivor told ABP News, “I have registered a case against casting director Ayush Tiwari and his friend Rakesh Sharma. He raped me on the pretext of marriage and have assaulted me mentally and physically.”

Speaking on the investigation, she said, "The police have not yet arrested the accused nor have they done any sort of medical tests."

The accused and the rape survivor knew each other for the last two years. When he refused to fulfil the promise to marry her, the woman went to the police, the official said. "We have registered the FIR against the accused under Indian Penal Code Section 376 (rape). No arrest has been made. We are conducting an investigation into the case," Versova's senior police official Raghvendra Thakur said.

Last month, another television actor Malvi Malhotra was in the news after she had to be admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after being stabbed by her stalker. It was reported that Malhotra came to know the accused Yogesh Singh through Facebook a year ago. But when Singh proposed marriage she declined it and broke off connections with him.

On October 26, around 9 pm, Singh followed Malhotra and soon got into an altercation with her. Following the argument, Singh allegedly stabbed Malhotra. You can read more about the incident here.
