“In a few days we will depart to assist with the protection of our borders,” the post further read. “Neither our homeland nor our dignity will be surrendered to the enemy.”

In a follow-up post, she wrote, "After my post yesterday about women's squad, we are getting many letters from our compatriots who want to volunteer for the squad," adding two mobile numbers to the post in case anyone wants to contact her for help.

Hakobyan had earlier urged the men of Armenia to join the military, saying, “Dear Armenian men, it’s time for you to rush to the military front and show the world what Armenian men are capable of doing to protect their homeland, homes, wives, children and parents.”

This is not the first time that Hakobyan will undertake combat training. Last month, she and a group of women from Karabakh underwent a seven-day combat training course at a military base, where they learnt how to use combat weapons like arms and ammunition, AFP reported. Hakobyan, who is the chief editor of the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper, also founded the My Step charitable foundation and initiated the Women for the Peace movement.
