The Toronto International Film Festival 2025 will feature Indian films alongside a stellar, curated lineup of exclusive cinema from over 80 countries. The festival's 50th edition will take place from September 4 to 14. Here is a list of Indian films that will be showcased at the Toronto Film Festival 2025 this September:
Homebound
Produced by Dharma Productions, the film stars Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa. Executive produced by Martin Scorsese, it will be screened in the Gala Presentation category. This immensely moving debut feature from director Neeraj Ghaywan follows two young friends whose bond becomes strained as they each pursue police work in a politically divided India.
Bayaan
When a revered religious leader is anonymously accused of sexual abuse, rookie detective Roohi battles entrenched power, silenced victims, and rising danger in a tense, uncompromising fight for justice. Bayaan is the only Indian film featured in the Discovery Section. The film stars Huma Qureshi, Chandrachur Singh, Sachin Khedekar, Paritosh Sand, Avijit Dutt, Vibhore Mayank, Sampa Mandal, Swati Das, Aditi Kanchan Singh, and Perry Chhabra. Helmed by writer-director Bikas Ranjan Mishra and produced by Shiladitya Bora of Platoon One Films, Bayaan promises to be a powerful watch.
Sholay
India’s most celebrated classic, Sholay, will premiere at the festival as a Special 50th Anniversary Restoration. Ramesh Sippy’s nostalgic masterpiece will once again find an audience at TIFF, celebrating the on-screen magic of Jai-Veeru’s friendship, Veeru-Basanti’s playful banter, Gabbar’s enigmatic presence, and Thakur’s iconic appearance. Written by the legendary duo Salim-Javed, the film is set to bring the magic of 70s Bollywood back to North America in full cinematic glory.
Monkey In A Cage
Monkey In A Cage is directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film featuring Bobby Deol will be premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025. The film takes inspiration from true events and has been written by Paatal Lok creator Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee. Produced by Nikhil Dwivedi, this film also stars Sanya Malhotra in a pivotal role. Bobby shared his first look from the film on Instagram. His post read, "The Story that should not have been told.
