Rhea Chakraborty, who is currently facing an inquiry in the alleged suicide case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput after his father KK Singh filed an FIR claiming “abetment to suicide” and “money laundering” charges against her, has put out a response statement today. In it, she claims that the allegations levied against her are “total nonsense” and “fabricated.” The statement also quotes that Chakraborty was groped by Singh’s sister, Priyanka, sometime around April 2019.
Rhea Alleges Sushant’s Sister Groped Her In Bed
The four-page statement, which was originally handed over to India Today by Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Manshinde, reads that “Rhea and Priyanka had gone out to a party” where “Priyanka consumed copious amounts of alcohol and was behaving inappropriately with men as well as women… So Rhea insisted that they return to Sushant’s home.” Once there, Chakraborty alleges that she went to bed, while “Sushant and his sister continued drinking alcohol.” The statement says that “Rhea was asleep in Sushant’s room when she suddenly awoke to find Priyanka had got into bed with her and was groping her.”
This incident, Chakraborty’s statement says, that caused an argument between Singh and his sister, and that “due to the aforesaid incident, the relationship between Sushant’s family and Rhea had been strained since inception.”
The statement reveals that Chakraborty and Singh had begun dating in April 2019 and “officially moved in together in December 2019.”
Rhea Chakraborty calls allegations against her “fabricated”
Focusing on the allegations of money laundering worth Rs 15 crore that have been levelled against Chakraborty and her family, the statement says, that she “denies all allegations of abetment of suicide, misappropriation of funds and others or otherwise.”
“She has not received a single transfer from Sushant’s accounts. All her Income Tax Returns have been examined by Police as well as the ED. Neither of them have found anything incriminating against Rhea.”
Responding to charges against her, Rhea’s statement says that these allegations by Singh’s family are nothing more than an “afterthought” and “No allegations whatsoever were made till the 27th of July 2020 by anybody in the family before the Mumbai Police or to any other authority… The allegations are totally concocted and fabricated for ulterior purposes.”
Bihar Police Investigated Without Jurisdiction
The case of Rajput’s death was handed over to the CBI on August 5, following a directive by the Centre to the Supreme Court after a tussle reportedly ensued between the Bihar and Maharashtra police forces over jurisdiction matters.
Chakraborty, who submitted a petition to the Supreme Court for the transfer of KK Singh’s FIR from Bihar to Mumbai, had earlier requested Home Minister Amit Shah for initiating a CBI inquiry into the death but later reportedly said that a CBI probe would be “totally illegal and beyond any known legal principles, affecting the Federal Structure of the Nation.”
In her statement today, it is stated that “What she has challenged is the illegal registration and investigation of Bihar Police without jurisdiction and transfer to CBI of an illegal investigation. Unless the Maharashtra Govt Consents to a CBI investigation, the Case cannot be transferred to CBI.”
