An unsettling incident occurred outside the Dilwara Jain Temple in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, where a woman confronted an elderly man for secretly taking inappropriate photos of her. The man allegedly focused his phone camera on her legs while she was waiting outside the temple in a short dress.
The woman grew suspicious when she noticed the man’s repeated glances and strange behaviour. Trusting her instincts, she approached him and asked to check his phone gallery. To her shock, she found photos of herself, clicked without her consent.
Angered, she immediately confronted the man and questioned him: “Uncle, ye kya hai? Kya kar rahe ho app? Ha, kyu le rahe ho mere pictures? Kyu le rahe ho mere pairon ka pictures? (Uncle, what is this? What are you doing? Why are you taking my pictures? Why are you taking pictures of my legs?)” She added that his constant staring had already made her feel extremely uncomfortable.
Though the man quickly deleted the images in front of her, the woman was not convinced. She pointed out that the photos might still be backed up elsewhere, making her more anxious about how her private images might be misused.
“Aren’t you ashamed? You are sitting near a temple and clicking my pictures,” she scolded him. Despite deleting the photos, the man shockingly denied ever taking them, which further enraged the woman. “You just deleted them. Badtameez. A**hole,” she exclaimed before leaving the area.
The user shared a lengthy caption that read, “THIS IS NOT OKAY! Today, my friend was sitting peacefully in front of Delwada Jain Temple, Mount Abu, Rajasthan, waiting for her parents—when an older man began staring at her uncomfortably and even clicked a photo of her leg without her consent.
He deleted the photo when she confronted him, but even then, no one else sitting there stepped in to help her. This happened in a public, spiritual place, in broad daylight. And yet, basic respect and safety were nowhere to be found.”
The entire confrontation was recorded on video by the woman and has since gone viral. Social media users are outraged and are calling for strict action. Many have tagged the Rajasthan Police and state tourism authorities, demanding that the man be identified and held accountable for invading the woman’s privacy.
This incident has once again sparked debate around the safety and dignity of women in public spaces, especially tourist locations.
