Speaking to SheThePeople, Vishakha and Divesh shared how their love story unfolded, one that began at work, turned into a deep companionship, and later transformed through challenges and self-discovery.

"We Almost Gave Up": How Self-Discovery Saved a Marriage

"We met in 2015 at work—it was my first job, and Divesh was my manager. Over time, our interactions grew, and we became closer. By 2019, we realized that we couldn’t imagine life without each other. That was the moment we decided to be each other’s 'the one.'”

The pandemic only strengthened their bond, as time apart made them realize just how much they valued each other. In March 2021, amidst COVID restrictions, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony surrounded by loved ones. But just three months into their marriage, reality set in.

"We began facing differences we hadn’t noticed before. Both of us are strong-willed and opinionated, which led to endless arguments. Small disagreements turned into major conflicts, and at one point, we felt like giving up. It felt like we had reached a breaking point."

Instead of walking away, they chose to rebuild. Turning to spirituality, meditation, and couples therapy, they worked on themselves as individuals, which in turn healed their relationship.

"One of the biggest lessons we learned is that a healthy relationship starts with self-love. Many conflicts stem from within, and when we make peace with ourselves, we bring that same energy into our relationships."

Vishakha and Divesh’s story is a reminder that love is not just about finding the perfect person, it’s about growing into the best versions of yourselves together. Every couple faces challenges at some point. But whether it’s therapy, spirituality, or just conscious effort, seeking help and growing together can truly make a difference.
