Woman Wins Jackpot

The 75-year-old resident of Springfield, Virginia, who preferred to remain anonymous, claimed her prize at the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

She had purchased the winning ticket at Marlow Winghouse & Sports Grill in Temple Hills, Maryland, on July 19, back when the Powerball jackpot was still growing and eventually reached a staggering $1.08 billion, won by a single ticket holder in California.

She had forgotten to check her ticket for any winnings until two months later when she was sorting through some paperwork. "This is truly wonderful," she expressed to the Virginia Lottery after rediscovering the ticket. "I feel very blessed."

Although she needed assistance to recall the details of her ticket purchase, the woman informed the Maryland Lottery that she had chosen random numbers. Remarkably, her ticket matched four regular numbers and the Powerball number, earning her the game's third-tier prize of $50,000. Moreover, she had opted for the Power Play, which doubled her prize to $100,000 when the 2X multiplier was drawn. In the Powerball drawing held on July 19, the winning numbers were 7, 10, 11, 13, and 24, and the Powerball number was 24.

She intends to deposit her winnings into her bank account and discuss with her family how to utilize the prize money.
