Virgin River Season 6 To Release Soon; Here's What's In Store

Virgin River fans have a lot to look forward to as Netflix has released the trailer for Season 6, set to premiere on December 19. The new season sees the return of Grayson Gurnsey as Ricky, the young man who left to join the Marines at the end of Season 4. Ricky’s return brings tension, particularly for Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale), who is pregnant and involved with Denny (Kai Bradbury), now fighting a terminal illness.

The trailer teases multiple plotlines, Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) are set to face new challenges, including whether their wedding will go as planned. There are also questions surrounding Mel’s estranged father, Preacher (Colin Lawrence), possibly facing jail time for covering up Wes' death, and Jack’s obligations toward Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) following the birth of her twins.

Virgin River Cast

While it's highly likely that the two main stars, Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe and Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan, will return, joining the cast this season are Jessica Rothe and Callum Kerr, who will portray a young Sarah and Everett—Mel’s parents. While John Allen Nelson plays the present-day Everett, Kerr will take on the character’s younger version, bringing depth to Mel's backstory.

Additionally, we can anticipate the return of several familiar cast members, including Tim Matheson in the role of Dr. Vernon "Doc" Mullins, Annette O'Toole as Hope McCrea, Colin Lawrence playing John "Preacher" Middleton, Benjamin Hollingsworth, as Dan Brady, Sarah Dugdale, portraying Lizzie, Jenny Cooper in the character of Joey Barnes, Zibby Allen as Brie Sheridan, Marco Grazzini as Mike Valenzuela, Lauren Hammersley taking on the role of Charmaine Roberts, Mark Ghanimé as Dr. Cameron Hayek, Kai Bradbury playing Denny Cutler, Teryl Rothery as Muriel, Nicola Cavendish, portraying Connie, Stacey Farber as Tara Anderson, Gwynyth Walsh in the role of Jo Ellen, Chase Petriw as Christopher, Barbara Pollard as Melissa Montgomery, Kandyse McClure as Kaia Bryant, and David Cubitt taking on the character of Calvin. These cast members are expected to make a return in the upcoming season.

Expected Plot

The upcoming season of Virgin River promises to bring excitement as it leads up to the much-anticipated wedding of Mel and Jack. In season five, Brie ended her relationship with Brady after he lied about just how much he knew about the underground drugs ring. She later found love with Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini) while Brady moved on with Lark (Elise Gatien).

Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith shared insights noting, “We’re trying to hit all the milestones of the pre-wedding planning, the bachelor and bachelorette parties, and the rehearsal dinner.” Fans can also expect scenes featuring dress shopping, suit fittings, and unexpected twists that add drama to the couple’s journey. The new season picks up a few months after season five's festive episodes, with Mel and Jack gearing up for their wedding while continuing on their path to parenthood.
