Osaka’s return to the Australian Open is not loud in the usual way. She isn’t talking about revenge, dominance, or proving anything. Instead, she’s showing up as she is and that is what’s making people look twice.

From the moment she walked into the court in jellyfish inspired outfits, it was clear this was not about fashion trends or attention. It was about mood.  About choosing joy in a space that usually runs on pressure.

She made a dramatic entrance ahead of her first round match against Antonia Ruzic, dedicating the ensemble to her daughter, Shai.

Dressing for feeling

Osaka's look did not come from any designer's mind but from a story book, belonging to her 2 year old daughter. While she was reading a story to her daughter.

Thedesign was inspired by a jellyfish I (Naomi Osaka) saw in a book while reading to my two-year-old daughter,” the 28-year-old told Vogue.

The watery turquoise and green palette, along with the soft frills on her warm-up jacket and dress, evoked the flowing tentacles of a jellyfish.

Why did Osaka wear Butterflies

London-based stylist Robert Wun, known for working with stars like Beyoncé, Cardi B, and Ariana Grande, helped bring Osaka’s idea to life. The outfit also featured two white butterflies one on her hat and another on her parasol referencing a memorable moment from the 2021 Australian Open, when a butterfly unexpectedly landed on Osaka’s face during her title winning run.
