US Doc Reportedly Held For Masturbating In Front Of Teen On Flight

The United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently apprehended an Indian-American physician in Boston on charges of reportedly engaging in indecent behaviour, specifically masturbating, in the presence of a 14-year-old girl during a flight from Hawaii to Boston in 2022.

What Was The Incident?

The Boston FBI published a thorough report of the case on the social media network X. On May 27, 2022, the incident happened on an aircraft from Honolulu to Boston. He reportedly masturbated in front of a little girl.

Five hours into the journey, according to the victim, the doctor reportedly wrapped himself in a blanket up to his neck. The teen then saw that his leg was bouncing. At that point, the blanket accidentally shifted, revealing his unzipped pants and exposed genitals to the teenager. The girl felt disgusted and quickly changed to a different seat.

According to the teenager, the 33-year-old doctor was accompanied by a female companion during the journey who was resting her head on the doctor's shoulder while asleep.

According to the officials, upon being interrogated by the authorities, Dr Sudipta Mohanty reportedly responded, "I do not recall that incident."

After the doctor's initial court appearance, Acting US Attorney Joshua Levy conveyed in a statement, "Every individual, particularly minors, possesses the right to be shielded from indecent behaviour while travelling."

Mohanty was briefly held in custody before being released. If found guilty of the allegations related to offensive, improper, and explicit behaviour, he could potentially be sentenced to a maximum of 90 days in prison and a fine of up to $5,000, as outlined by federal regulations.

Who Is Dr Sudipta Mohanty?

Internal medicine specialist in Boston, the 33-year-old doctor has over eight years of experience in the medical field. A graduate of the University Of Pennsylvania in 2014, he is affiliated with medical facilities such as Carney Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
