The prestigious Cannes Film Festival has returned for its 78th edition from May 13 to May 24, 2025. Indian filmmaker and Cannes jurist Payal Kapadia made a minimalist yet powerful statement at the opening ceremony, in a sharply tailored suit designed by Rishta (Arjun Saluja). The ensemble was complete with a grey and white checkered blazer, matching pants with a pleated detail, a black collared shirt, and oxidised silver jewellery—a layered choker with ghungroo detailing, giving the look a striking touch of Indian heritage.

Styled by Indrakshi Pattanaik, her gray-and black suit drew inspiration from the 1980s style, according to Times Entertainment. Pattanaik told the outlet, “Payal loves the aesthetics of the 80s-structured, smart, and full of presence. We wanted her outfit to feel like an extension of her—intelligent, grounded, and expressive. Arjun was the perfect partner for that vision.”
