Who Is Somy Ali? Actor Threatens To Expose Bollywood's Harley Weinstein

Somy Ali is a Pakistani-American personality who is an actor, model, activist, filmmaker and writer. Somy had worked in some Bollywood movies during the 1990's including Krishan Avtaar (1993), Anth (1994), Teesra Kaun (1994), Yaar Gaddar (1994), Andolan (1995), Aao Pyar Karen (1994), Chup (1997) and Mafia (1996). Somy formerly dated Salman Khan, reportedly from 1991 to 1999 after which she moved to US when the couple parted ways. However, she is always seen praising Salman and his family for teaching her a lot of things in life.

Somy later engaged herself in working for rights of women and the issues faced by them in South Asia. She brought the struggles of rape and domestic violence survivors to the notice of the public and wrote articles about survivors like Sonia Naz, Shazia Khalid and Mukhtaran Mai. In 2006, Somy established an NGO No More Tears and reportedly her clothing line So-Me Designs' revenue was used to run that NGO. She received American Heritage Award in 2011, The Daily Point of Light Award in 2015 and The National Domestic Violence Month "A Proclamation" for her work through No More Tears.

In 2018, during the MeToo movement, Somy also shared her experience of going through similar experiences. She praised the courage of women who came up to speak against the abusers. Once again, Somy has targeted someone from the industry whom she accuses of sexual abuse and compares to Harley Weinstein.
