From Pennsylvania comes the story of a sweet old neighbour lighting up social media with his quirky annual tradition. The 87-year-old Bucks County, Pennsylvania, resident recently went viral after his neighbour Michelle Hernandez shared a TikTok video of him handing out his hand-made party invitations, which included details for a celebration on February 15th: '4 p.m. until the cops arrive.'
Her home security camera was able to capture the adorable moment–which shows him ringing the doorbell, pulling out one of his invites, and pitching his invitation, "Hi, I’m Doug across the street…I live over in that house there,” he says. “This is an invite to a party I’m having on February 15th. I didn’t want to leave it in the mailbox.”
Touched by the sweet gesture, Hernandez couldn’t resist sharing this moment on TikTok. Her video has been viewed more than 2 million times on TikTok, and people around the country and the world love their wholesome interaction.
Here's a look at Turner's handwritten invitation which has charmed many of his newfound fans.

Meet Doug Turner
Little did Turner know that just a few days after the event, he would be stopping by TODAY to tell his newfound fans how it all went.
“It was a rager, yeah,” said Doug Turner, on TODAY, “We started at 4 p.m. and most of the 24 people invited showed up and we just ate food and drank beer and even snuck into my whiskey stash and drank that. It was pretty wild, it lasted until midnight.”

Although Doug’s Winter Party quickly became a global phenomenon, the actual event remained exclusive, with only a couple dozen neighbours joining him.
Hernandez helped Turner livestream the event so that his new fans across the country could tune in. Turner also didn't stay behind in sharing video updates from the event.
“It’s been going about five or six hours or so, I’m starting to kind of tired,” he said in one video. “It’s been a great connection with a bunch of good neighbours…We didn’t get rid of all the food and drinks, but we did put a big hole in the pile, anyway, so I hope we see you next time.”
Most importantly, “the cops never showed up,” Turner added.
Turner seemed amused by all the attention he is suddenly receiving, and he admitted on TODAY that it feels “kind of embarrassing to me because my dad was not a braggart and he hated it, so he’d be unhappy with this.”
However, he also said it was heartwarming to see how his gathering inspired others to come together.
As for whether there will be another one of Doug’s Winter Party 2026? Turner said he’s planning on it, but “it might be quieter.”
