Who is Anuja Sathe: Crime-thriller show Ek The Begum came back with its season 2 on September 30. The show is said to be based on true events and captures the life of a mafia queen in Mumbai who goes head to head with a don. The show is led by Marathi actor Anuja Sathe, who essays the role of Ashraf.

Season 1 of the show told viewers the story of an Aurangabad-born woman named Ashraf Bhatkar who moves to Mumbai and marries Zaheer- the right hand and confidante of a don named Maqsood. When Zaheer turns from an ally into Maqsood's rival, the don has him killed. Ashraf vows to avenge her husband's death and turns into an informer for the police, collecting evidence to expose the nexus between politicians and the underworld. However, before she could expose the corruption ring, her rivals try to kill her and destroy the evidence she had collected. ">Season 1 of Ek This Begum ends with a cliffhanger with Ashraf being attacked by her enemies in order to destroy the evidence against them.
In Season 2 of the show, Ashraf adopts an alias- Leela Paswan and embarks on a violent journey to avenge the death of her husband. The show also features actors like Chinmay Mandlekar, Ajay Gehi, Vijay Nikam and Shahab Ali, who was also seen in season 2 of Manoj Bajpayee's show The Family Man.
The second season of Ek This Begum is now streaming on MX Player and is available for viewing in Hindi and Marathi.
Who is Anuja Sathe?
Anuja Sathe has been a part of the Marathi entertainment industry for more than a decade now. She has worked in serials like Mandala Don Ghadicha Dav and Lagori Maitri Returns. Sathe also went on to star in Marathi films like Cappuccino, Coffee Ani Barach Kahi, WhatsApp Love and Mi Pan Sachin. Eventually, Sathe moved to Hindi general entertainment and worked in shows like Tamanna, Peshwa Bajirao and Jhansi Ki Rani.
Sathe has also worked in several Hindi films, starting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastaani, which features Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in lead. She played supporting roles in John Abraham starrer Parmanu: The Untold Story Of Pokhran and Irrfan's Blackmail. Sathe is married to Marathi actor Saurabh Gokhale.
