Where To Watch Rashmi Rocket: Rashmi Rocket, is a film by Akarsh Khurana starring actor Taapsee Pannu in the lead, is set for Dushera release on OTT. The film dives into the subject of gender testing in sports which impacts the careers of many sportswomen, both in India and abroad.

Apart from Pannu, the film features veteran actors Supriya Pathak and Supriya Pilgaonkar in key roles, along with Priyanshu Painyuli, Mantra and Abhishek Banerjee. While Pathak will essay the role of Rashmi's mother. Painyuli will be seen as her husband in the film. Banerjee plays the role of an advocate who helps our Rashmi in her quest for justice.
What's the film about?
The plot of the film revolves around Rashmi (played by Pannu), a Gujarati sprinter who aspires to represent her country at an international level. Her speed makes her a sensation at local events, following which she decides to compete internationally. However, her flourishing career is cut short by gender testing. The film draws inspiration from real-life incidences of women runners being banned for hyperandrogenism.
Famous Indian athlete ">Dutee Chand too faced a ban due to gender testing, which led to her being dropped out of the Commonwealth Games in 2014 after the federation claimed she suffered from hyperandrogenism. Later, in a landmark judgement, the federation rules were suspended.
However, according to Aniruddha Guha, one of the writers of the film, the film is not inspired by Chand, “Our film is a tribute to several sportswomen around the world who’ve had to undergo gender testing and bear the social and psychological ramifications that come attached with this archaic practice.”
