Watch Toofaan Online: Farhan Akhtar and Mrunal Thakur starrer Toofaan will be releasing on 16 July. After its release got stalled multiple times due to the pandemic, the sports drama will finally have an OTT premiere this week.

Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra Toofaan revolves around the story of a street-fighter-turned national level boxer, who gets another chance to turn around his professional boxing career.

Boycott Toofaan trends before film’s release

A few days ago, Boycott Toofaan was trending on Twitter. Reason?  The upcoming film is accused of promoting “Love Jihad” as there is a love angle between a Muslim man and Hindu woman. Read more about the controversy here.

Last week, the film’s 47-year-old lead actor shared a video on his social media handle to give his fans a glimpse into the rigorous training that he went through while prepping up for the role.  He captioned the video as “Training to be a boxer…It took about two years to bring the boxer persona to life. This wouldn’t have been possible without the belief & support of this amazing team. Watch my boxing journey here.”

 

More About The Cast

Paresh Rawal is playing the role of  Akhtar’s coach in Toofaan. Apart from him, the cast also includes Supriya Pathak Kapur, Dr Mohan Agashe, Hussain Dalal and Darshan Kumar in key roles. Read more about the cast. 

Actor Mrunal Thakur, who has been cast opposite Akhtar in the film, became a household name for her role in the television show Kumkum Bhagya (2014–2016). She also essayed the character of Sonia in the drama film Love Sonia (2018). Thakur also appeared in the biographical drama Super 30 alongside Hrithik Roshan.

Farhan and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra have collaborated in the past to shoot the inspiring biopic of late sprinter Milkha Singh, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.  

Where to watch Toofaan

Toofaan will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from July 16. Anyone with a valid subscription can watch it on the OTT platform from the said date.
