Based on the debut novel of the same title by author Robyn Carr, the series revolves around a nurse named Mel Monroe who intends to rebuild her life in a quiet community in Northern Carolina. The new season will see Alexandra Breckenridge's Melinda, or Mel discovering the status of her child in the new season and whether the child belongs to her deceased husband, Mark, or her current lover, Jack.

When the Virgin River returns, we may expect to see the usual suspects. The characters of Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Colin Lawrence, Lauren Hammersley, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Grayson Gurnsey, and Sarah Dugdale will all be reprised.

While Season 4 is all set to premiere on OTT on July 20, there's a sad update about season 5. The filming for the fifth season was delayed, as Alexandra Breckenridge revealed back in January, saying, "We were scheduled to start in March, but it's been pushed back, so I'm not sure."

Because the events of Season 5 will be heavily influenced by how the fourth season finishes, the plot for Season 5 is yet unknown. It's tough to predict when Virgin River Season 5 will be released because season 4 has yet to be released publicly. Fans should not expect Season 5 to premiere before 2023, though.
