Xiao Qiumei death: A young social media influencer who went by the handle XiaoQiumei on Douyin app, China's TikTok equivalent, passed away last week in a shocking accident as per reports.

The 23-year-old and mother of two was a crane operator who worked in Zhejiang. On July 20, she reportedly fell off a crane, plunging 160 feet to her death. While eyewitnesses and reports say Qiumei was filming a video when the accident happened, her family has denied the claims saying she would not show such unprofessionalism at work. 1. Qiumei was a crane operator in China, known for vlogging her daily life and sharing snaps from her place of work. Over 100,000 fans enjoyed her content on video app Douyin.

2. According to The Sun, on July 20, Qiumei fell 160 feet deep from a crane she was operating mid-livestream in the evening around 5:30 PM. Reports suggest her co-workers had left office by that time.

3. Eyewitnesses on-site have alleged Qiumei, while falling, had her phone in hand with the camera reportedly recording. A video circulating online allegedly shows Qiumei filming herself before she plunges to death. The video includes visuals of the descent and crane equipment.

4. Qiumei's family confirmed her death on July 24, as per reports. But they refuted claims of their daughter falling to death while shooting a video. Their version is Qiumei accidentally slipped and fell from the crane at her workplace, leading to her demise.

5. This case is similar to a recent one from Hong Kong, where vlogger and Instagram influencer Sophia Cheung reportedly fell to her death while clicking a selfie on a steep edge during a hiking trip with friends. Earlier this month, Brazilian Instagram influencer Júlia Hennessy Cayuela also died at age 22 after a motorcycle accident in São José dos Pinhais. More influencer deaths that shocked fans this year.
