All You Need To Know About Ankahi Kahaniya Release Date

Ankahi Kahaniya release date: Three of India's most acclaimed Hindi film directors have joined forces to bring us an anthology about love, longing and betrayal. The anthology promises viewers untold stories, backed by a stellar cast.

Titled Ankahi Kahaniya, this anthology has been helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Saket Chaudhary. The segment directed by Chaubey, best known for films like Ishqiya, Udta Punjab and Sonchiriya, features actors Rinku Rajguru and Delzad Hiwale. Chaudhary's segment is led by actors Kunal Kapoor and Zoya Hussain, while Tiwari's story features Abhishek Banerjee.

"Cities are a hard place to live in, especially when you're not in love, looking for love or have gotten your heart broken," this blurb from Ankahi Kahaniya's trailer is all that its makers are willing to give away. However, the trailer tells us a lot more. There's a couple who cannot decide if they should choose between preserving their marriage or living life on their own terms. A young woman falls in love with a boy who isn't the person she thinks him to be. Perhaps the most interesting segment is Tiwari's story about a small-town man living in Mumbai, devoid of companionship, who falls in love with a mannequin.

Speaking about the segment, Tiwari, known for directing films like Nil Battey Sannata, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Panga, said that she always wanted to be part of an anthology. "I just jumped at this because I knew I would get to explore a different side of film-making and make a story which would help me rediscover some nuances that go missing while directing in the long format," she further said, adding that making a short film enables film-makers to put in moments that give you that little piece of joy or try new camera movements or new things in terms of story and characters.

Ankahi Kahaniya will be streaming exclusively on Netflix. In the last few months, the platform has featured numerous anthologies like Navarasa and Ray, which received mixed reviews.
