Very few of us are lucky enough to be born with sisters. But if life’s kind, it gives us a few we get to choose. The ones who start as strangers, then turn into friends, and somewhere along the way, become something so much more.
A toast to sisterhood
She’s the one who shows up when you don’t even know how to ask for help. Who brings you flowers on a random Tuesday because she wanted to. The one who hypes you up when you don’t recognise yourself in the mirror, who listens to your overthinking spirals about some guy (again) like she’s hearing it for the first time, even though you both know it's not.
She’s your therapist, honestly. She gives you unsolicited but shockingly accurate personality breakdowns not just of you, but of the guy you're talking to, his attachment style, his trauma, his past life karma... all based on a two-minute voice note and one blurry photo. And she's somehow always right.

She’s the person you fight with like a sibling, the one you’d block over something dumb and then send a meme to five minutes later. She saves your handmade gifts like they’re rare collectables and gets emotional over a badly drawn birthday card. She brings you food because she tried a new recipe. She’ll answer your call at 2 a.m. when your brain won’t shut up and stay on until it does.
She knows the messiest and the dumbest versions of you, your unfiltered thoughts, your family chaos, your embarrassing crushes. She’s the one you send “guess what” texts to before the thing has even happened. She’ll stalk your crush’s dad’s Instagram with you, just for fun. She’ll come to every awkward family function, every random ceremony, every weird event, no questions asked. Your family knows her by name. Your relatives ask about her. She’s not just your person anymore; she’s part of the family.
And yeah, you’ve had lesbian allegations. And if she wasn’t a girl? You’d probably marry her. Honestly, you still might. If nothing else works out, you’ll grow old together in matching night suits with 4 dogs and no regrets.
She’s your safe space. Your chaos buddy. Your chosen sister.
Here’s to her - the friend who turned into everything you didn’t even know you needed.
