The double disappearance has taken headlines and social media by storm, with high public interest in the status of the couple. 23-year-old Laundrie's parents said they last saw their son on September 14, reportedly before he left for a hiking trip at a reserve near their home in Florida. He had returned exactly two weeks ago on September 1, alone, from a cross-country travel he undertook with 22-year-old Petito.

Experts believe the search area for Laundrie continues to expand for every moment that he is not found. Petito's parents in a statement have alleged Laundrie is not missing but "hiding."

4. Latest reports say the FBI have conducted a search at Laundrie's parents' home in Florida, towing a car from the property. The search warrant flagged a concern from Petito's mother who referred to certain texts sent from her daughter's phone.
