Ardern, who has always led by example, became one of the most popular leaders around the world for her best practises, stringent efforts to curb COVID. She received accolades for ensuring citizen focussed efforts to cut down a rising spread of coronavirus.

Ardern has broken many stereotypes, whether its about being a young female leader heading a country, announcing free availability of sanitary napkins in public toilets or having a live-in relationship as a leader in the political world. She has become an inspiration for many to believe they too can lead in politics.

Clarke Gayford, her partner has been in the spotlight as someone who is married to a public figure but also because of his many statements about equal parenting (the two have one child together) and feminism. Here's all you need to know about him:

  • Born in 1977, Clarke Gayford is a news and television presenter.
  • In his twenties, in 1999, Gayford was seen on Treasure Island as a contestant. It was a reality television game show.
  • Shortly after that, given his public person, in 2003, Gayford started broadcasting on the C4 music channel, presenting programmes for youth
  • Gayford continues to be a presenter and now hosts a features documentary called The Fish of the Day
  • He is the fiance of Jacinda Ardern, and that's how the world started knowing him better outside of his clout in New Zealand
  • Gayford and Ardern began dating in 2013.
  • A few years after they dated, Ardern was elected as Leader of the Labour Party in New Zealand
  • After a general election in 2017, Ardern became prime minister on 26 October 2017.

The couple together have a baby. This too made headlines when Ardern became an unmarried mother and broke many societal stereotypes and gave those women inspiration, who wanted to be single moms or have children out of wedlock.
