On Monday, a women's cell leader of Bharatiya Janata Party was reportedly shot and seriously injured by unidentified men in South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. Radharani Naskar who is the Vice-President of a unit of the Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha in Bisnupur area of the district was reportedly shot in the back of her head and was admitted to SSKM hospital, Kolkata later in critical condition.

According to the police, she was shot in broad daylight outside her residence in Raghudebpur village. The locals rushed her to the primary healthcare centre from where she was referred to the SSKM Hospital as her condition deteriorated.

Naskar's husband, Arun Naskar is the President of BJP’s local booth committee at Bishnupur. According to the sources, a group of armed men were looking for Arun but as Arun was not present they reportedly fired at Radharani and fled.

“She was shot by Trinamool Congress-backed goons. Complete lawlessness is prevailing all across Bengal as the criminals know they will never be punished in Mamata Banerjee’s rule as long as they are Trinamool’s supporters,” said BJP Mahila Morcha leader Agnimitra Paul TOI quoted.

However, Chief Minister of the state  Mamata Banerjee has rejected all these allegations and further alleged infighting within BJP as the reason for the attack.
