In a heartfelt note the Indian cricket team skipper penned Sunday, he also mentioned his late father and the cherished moments they spent. "As I miss my old man this day, I also celebrate our memories together," he wrote. Kohli's father, Anil, passed away in 2006 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Kohli was only 18 at the time.

Ever since he became a father, 32-year-old Kohli has extensively gushed over the joys of bringing Vamika up with Sharma. "Just to see your child smile, it can’t be put in words. Kohli, in January this year, ahead of his child's birth had made national headlines with his choice for paternity leave. His break, which came mid-Australia tour of the cricket team, received extreme, mixed reactions with fans of the game criticising the captain for seemingly 'abandoning' his mates, even as their performances were not looking up.

India secured a laudable victory at Gabba, cheered on from Mumbai by Kohli, who was then beside Sharma and their newly arrived daughter.

In later interviews, he said, "I wanted to be back home in time to be with my wife for the birth of our first child and it is a very very special and very very beautiful moment in our lives and something I truly want to experience."

Earlier today, on the occasion of Father's Day, Sharma too shared a special post featuring "two exemplary men" in her life: Kohli and her father Col (retd) Ajay Sharma. "The best father's a daughter can have," the actor wrote. See her post here.
