Sharma and Kohli became parents to a daughter, Vamika, earlier this year on January 11. Kohli, captain of the Indian cricket team who flew down to India after one test match of the Australia tour to welcome his child, has called fatherhood a “life changing experience.”

“…just to be able to be present for the birth of our daughter was something that is very difficult to explain in words something that I will cherish it for the rest of my life… to witness the life being born and your own child, it’s something magical.” See his fatherhood journey here.

Sharma has said she owes a lot, including her being, to the Indian Army growing up in and adapting to dynamic, ever-changing environments through her father’s service as an officer. A Kargil War veteran, his posting to remote areas in India added to Sharma’s “personal growth” as a defence ward, she said on Army Day in 2017, as per Hindustan Times.

“Parents from defence background have a more liberated set of values which adds to the inherent confidence and self-belief their children display.”
