UK: Woman Changes Middle Name To Honour Her Favourite Railway Station
Khawaja who was initially about to change her first name to 'Marylebone' was wisely intervened by her daughters to advise her to alter her middle name instead of her first name to pay the tribute. However, changing her middle name reflects the profound impact the station has had on her life.
Khawaja has been mostly based in Marylebone station during her 20-year-long career tenure at Chiltern Railways with various roles as train dispatcher to station manager over the years. Khawaja is currently the safeguarding and security manager working across the operator's network, but reportedly still tries to visit Marylebone station as much as she can.
"The station itself is not big, but it's got a soul," Khawaja told the Independent. "The more I explored it over my time here, the more I was falling in love with it." She also added that she considers it a "home away from home." The station's architecture, community atmosphere, and rich history have all captured her heart.
Talking about her love for the station's atmosphere she said that despite some things going wrong sometimes at the station, the employees there worked hard with a smile. She also added how the station has a warm and welcoming feeling to it that not every London station has, and while managing this station, she felt like "flying".
Khawaja expresses that the station is "such a huge part of her life" and she is excited to be carrying something that has had a huge impact on her life.
This story highlights the emotional connection people can form with places that hold significance in their lives. Khawaja's dedication to Marylebone station serves as a reminder of the power these environments and good working culture can have on shaping our experiences.
