Rhea Chakraborty in Chehre: Has the actor been dropped from the film? Has she been replaced? Why no mention of her in promotions? Here's what we know so far.

The cast of Rumi Jaffrey-directed thriller Chehre on Tuesday announced the teaser release date. Fans will get their first peek at the highly-anticipated film's preview on March 11. However, fans were quick to spot that Rhea Chakraborty, who was previously part of the cast alongside the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi and Krystle D'Souza, is missing, both from the film posters and the teaser release promotions.

There is wide speculation on social media that Chakraborty, by virtue of being named the prime suspect in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case, has been dropped from the film. The first poster of the film unveiled February 23 did not feature Chakraborty and did not name her on the cast list.

Rhea Chakraborty in Chehre no more? Here are the details

In July 2019, Chakraborty had shared her look from Chehre, tagging the rest of the cast. She was reportedly playing a character named Neha Bharadwaj. After her brush with the law last year, director Jaffrey, who is also a friend of the actor, had stated, "Rhea will return to her work early next year." Her absence from the film's promotions, instead, has raised eyebrows.

Chakraborty, who was named last year in allegedly abetting the suicide of Rajput, her former boyfriend, has kept a low profile since her release from judicial custody in October 2020.
