Out on bail, actor Rhea Chakraborty, who was accused of abetment to suicide and drug peddling following the death of her ex-boyfriend and actor Sushant Singh Rajput, is soon to make a comeback in Bollywood. The revelation was made by filmmaker and actor's friend Rumi Jaffery. Jaffrey, who is directing upcoming film Chehre, and was also a close friend of Rajput, said, “Rhea will return to her work early next year.”

Talking to SpotboyE, Jaffery said, “It has been a traumatic year for her," adding that spending a month in jail has "crushed Rhea's morale." He claimed that the year was bad for everyone but in Chakraborty's case "it was a trauma on another level."

"Can you imagine any girl from a well-to-do middleclass family spending a month in jail?" Jaffery asked. He also assured in the interview that the film industry would welcome her "with open arms."

A complaint was lodged by Rajput’s father KK Singh in Patna, alleging that Chakraborty and her family were responsible for his son’s death. Following this, her name also popped up in the drug probe carried out by the Narcotics Control Bureau, and she was in jail for almost a month. She was released on a bail on October 7. Later, Chakraborty had accused Rajput’s sisters of giving him medicines without a prescription, days before his death by suicide on June 14, 2020. A special NDPS court granted bail to her brother Showik on December 2, after three months.

Chakraborty was being called a “gold digger” on various social media platforms and the alleged media trial against her worried her mother, Sandhya Chakraborty, who is a former schoolteacher and now a homemaker, about her mental health. In response, Jaffery added, "I met her recently. She was withdrawn and quiet. Didn’t speak much. Can’t blame her after what she has gone through. Let the heat and dust settle down. I’m sure Rhea will have a lot to say.”

"She was harassed by various agencies,” the lawyer added.
