Priyanka Chopra's Restaurant Sona Is 'Ready' To Open In NYC This Month. 5 Things To Know

Priyanka Chopra restaurant Sona: Actor and producer Priyanka Chopra is now a restaurateur! She recently unveiled her new Indian restaurant Sona in New York and as the actor claimed she has “poured” her “love for Indian food”. Sona which means gold in Hindi.

As Sona is ready to officially welcome foodies, Instagram pictures from a small puja ceremony conducted in the restaurant have been making rounds on social media. These inside photos are shared by restaurateur Maneesh Goyal, who has collaborated with Priyanka on her latest endeavour. On his Instagram, he revealed that their current “blessing ceremony” was similar to the one they did in September 2019, before kicking off work on the restaurant.

Here are five things to know about Priyanka Chopra's New York restaurant:

1. First of all, the Indian-themed restaurant Sona promises a wide range of delicacies from the country. “SONA is the very embodiment of timeless India and the flavours I grew up with,” the actor had earlier shared on Instagram. It will serve you some signature dishes from the "exotic menu" that includes kofta korma in cashew sauce served with chilli cheese naan, aromatic Thalassery biryani, made with Kerala-special Kaima rice, and appam. The head chef here is Hari Nayak.

2. Chopra has chosen the colour scheme of brown and gold for her restaurant which is also a bar and offers private dining space for eight to 30 guests. Interestingly, the restaurant also has a private dining room named 'Mimi', which is the actor's nickname.

3. The description of the restaurant on its official Instagram page, "SONA reimagines the wonders of Indian fare in a space that evokes a bygone era of a boisterous yet elegant India—all within the heart of New York City."

4. This is not the first time that Chopra has turned entrepreneur. She has ventured out across many sectors including skincare brand Anomaly and invested in various companies. Starting from winning Miss World, taking up unconventional roles in Bollywood to achieving a niche for herself in the West through her lead role in the drama thriller series Quantico, she has come a long way. 5. Sona is all set to open by end of March this year and will serve dinner every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, according to its official website.
