Court reserves order on Prince Raj Paswan Rape Case

The Court announced that it will be pronouncing order on anticipatory bail plea on Monday, September 20. The Delhi Police opposed the anticipatory bail petition of the accused. During the hearing in the court, Public Prosecutor Manish Rawat submitted that they needed a custodial interrogation to recover the alleged video clips which contained objectionable content as per the rape survivor’s claims.

Meanwhile, Senior Advocate Vikas Pahwa and Advocate Nitesh Rana submitted that it is a case of honey trap and extortion, not rape. “The rape case against my client is a frivolous case. My client is innocent,” Paswan’s lawyers said. They claimed that the complainant and her friend have been extorting money from him since last year. Paswan reportedly lodged an FIR for extortion in the Parliament Street Police Station in February this year.

The lawyers further argued that the woman threatened to destroy his reputation if he didn’t pay the extortion money. “He gave her Rs. 2 Lakh but the extortion still continued,” they added. They went on to say that after Paswan filed an FIR, both the complainant and her friend had to take an anticipatory bail from the court. He had made an anticipatory plea for bail in Rouse Avenue Court, Delhi and sought protection from being arrested.
