Uttrakhand BJP MLA: A case of rape has been registered against Suresh Rathore, BJP legislator from Jwalapur at Bahadrabad. The complainant is a female party worker, hailing from Begumpura village.
The case was registered at Bahadrabad police station on Friday. The survivor, a female party worker accused Suresh Rathore of raping her a few months back. She refused to disclose the matter at that time as she was forewarned of alarming repercussions by the legislator.
Sub-inspector Bahadrabad police station Mahendra Pundir said, “A case has been lodged against Suresh Rathore under section 376 IPC at Bahadrabad police station. We are further investigating the matter.”
According to a statement by Rathore, he said, “I am being wrongly framed by anti-social elements who earlier tried to blackmail me but instead got caught. There is a threat to my life, so I request police protection. All these charges levelled against me are baseless.”
However, the politician said that he was a public representative and law-abiding citizen so would fully cooperate with the court and police in the process of the investigation.
According to a female party district leader, the complainant was not only working together with Rathore till a few months back, in party-related programs but also was reportedly a prominent participant in political programs, rallies, and meetings of the MLA.

Rathore lodged a complaint against the complainant on May 26. The woman's husband along with three others allegedly posed as media and demanded ₹30 lakh from Rathore. He alleged that the woman and the people involved with her threatened to circulate a video in which she was levelling rape allegations against him.
In response police reportedly set up a trap calling the female and her associates, to personally come and collect the desired amount.
On the arrival of the accused, the police apprehended them and lodged a case of blackmailing for the same. Later, in the court, the woman alleged being raped by Rathore. She also accused Rathore of misguiding the police and claimed him to be roaming freely owing to his power as an MLA.
