Pamela Goswami's Lawyer Quits Case Citing 'Threat To Family'

Pamela Goswami lawyer withdraws: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing leader Pamela Goswami, who was arrested by the police for allegedly possessing cocaine, has just lost her lawyer. Shubhadeep Roy, who was representing Goswami, has claimed that his family is getting threats so he decided to drop the youth BJP leader's case.

"I can't be biased on behalf of anyone. I want to work for the law impartially, so I am under pressure in various ways. So it is better to withdraw from working in this situation," Roy told India Today. Goswami had earlier claimed that BJP Bengal Chief Kailash Vijayvargiya’s close aide and party leader Rakesh Singh had conspired to trap her.

The General Secretary of Bengal BJP Yuva Morcha, Goswami was arrested in the state capital Kolkata along with a friend on February 19 for allegedly carrying cocaine (estimated 100 gm) earlier this month. She was reportedly caught with drugs in her purse and under the seat of the car she was in. Singh is currently in police custody in connection with the case.

Roy further alleged that he was threatened by a couple of goons on motorcycles who blocked his way when he was returning home on Thursday and said, "You have a happy family, why are you so interested in this case? Withdraw yourself quickly."

"For the past few days, I have noticed that wherever I go, there are a number of unfamiliar suspicious faces around me. They keep an eye on where I am going, what I am doing, where I am chatting. Who is behind it, I don't know," said Roy adding that he has not filed a police complaint yet. He went on to claim that he was warned by members of a political party as well who said they would harm his family members if he decided not to drop Pamela Goswami's case.

Goswami worked as a model before joining politics. She was also an air hostess and a Bengali television actor.
