The 21-year-old woman was married. She was found in Aluva in Ernakulam district after she had filed a domestic violence complaint with the police and the National and State Women Commission against her husband and his family members. She had alleged them of dowry harassment, as per the police.

The woman has been identified as Moufiya Parween who was an LLB student. She was found hanging in her room at her house on November 23. The police had also recovered a suicide note in which the woman had alleged that the Circle Inspector neglected her complaint against her husband and in-laws and also behaved badly with her.
