The woman named Netravati, 27, used to work as a traffic constable in Bengaluru and was married to Manjunath. He is also a traffic constable. While Netravati was posted at Kamakshipalya police station, Manjunath was the Peenya traffic police station in the city.

Netravati's father has alleged that his daughter killed herself after facing harassment from her husband over dowry.

The deceased woman's father has lodged a complaint with the Madanayakanahalli police. According to the FIR, the woman had told her father about the harassment. The father alleged that Netravati and her husband used to get into fights as her husband used to mentally torture her demanding money and jewellery.

Netravati's father said that during the couple's wedding on June 27, he had given two lakh rupees in addition to a gold chain and a gold ring. Manjunath started torturing Netravati for more money and was forcing her to give her jewellery if she couldn't arrange cash.

"My daughter had also told me that on the third day of marriage, he had come home drunk and fought with her. She had also told me over the phone that my son-in-law had taken loans from several people and he used to pester her to give him money,” he added as per the FIR.

According to reports, the deceased woman's husband Manjunath has been booked under section 3 (giving or taking dowry) and 4 (demanding dowry) of the Dowry Prohibition Act, and section 304 (b) and 498 (a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The police are reportedly investigating the case.
