Jharkhand Cop Suspended For Molesting Lady Constable, Touches Her Feet To Apologise

A Jharkhand policeman has been suspended after allegedly being caught molesting a lady constable on the pretext of approving her leave. The alleged incident took place at the Police Lines in Ranchi on Wednesday.

According to the lady constable, she was trying to get her leaves sanctioned for the past two days when on Wednesday, jemadar Shatrughan Singh, called her to his room and allegedly tried to molest her.

After the lady constable raised an alarm for help, other police officers rushed to the room and caught Singh red-handed. Singh then proceeded to touch the lady constable's feet and asked for forgiveness. 

Reportedly, Singh was trashed for his conduct on the spot and the matter was immediately reported to Surendra Jha, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, who later suspended him.

In December last year, an employee of the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Gola Mandir area of Madhya Pradesh was arrested for allegedly molesting a minor girl.  The Gwalior Police arrested the IAF employee after the girl registered a complaint at the police station. Then in August 2020,  a teen from Uttar Pradesh alleged that a cop in Kanpur had asked her to dance when she approached him to file an FIR against her landlord. According to the girl’s mother, her daughter was allegedly molested twice by the nephew of their landlady.

Denying all allegations, Govind Nagar Circle Officer Vikas Kumar Pandey said, “There seems to be no substance in the charges. Prima-facie it appears that the girl has made the video viral in order to create pressure on the police. However, a probe is underway in this regard,” adding that an investigation is underway in the matter.
