With Telangana assembly polls just around the corner, a little girl had an unusual request to Bharat Rashtra Samiti leader, K T Rama Rao. "Hello, KTR mama, can you bring Disneyland to Hyderabad, please?," the little girl said, in a video posted by her father to X (Twitter). The IT minister responded to the adorable video saying, "Can’t promise, beta but will try my best." The video was reposted by Rao to his account, which has now garnered the attention of fellow X users, who say "Even the little girl has confidence that you will be a leader."
The minister's response has the people of Hyderabad hopeful for India's first Disneyland in their very city. The amusement park would also be the first of its kind in South Asia.
Encouraging the little girl's request, some users also said that a Disneyland in Hyderabad would be a great boost to the State's economy.
South Asia's First Disneyland
A trip to Disneyland is arguably everybody's dream, for children and adults alike. While there is no Disneyland in any South Asian country yet, the possibility of Disneyland in Hyderabad was first reported in 2016. The Telangana tourism department had said, "The talks with Disneyland Park representatives are at a preliminary stage now. Once the terms are finalised, Telangana will have its own Disneyland with all its splendour."
A team from Disneyland was to visit Sri Lanka’s Hambantota to discuss setting up a theme park there, news agency ANI had reported in October last year. Bringing Disneyland to an Indian city would give it a boost in status and economy worldwide, making it on par with cities like Paris, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. An X user reflected this in his post, stating, "If Disneyland comes to Hyderabad, it will be a lifetime achievement."
