Gujrat Shocker: Two Minor Girls Raped In Rajkot

Two minor girls raped in Rajkot: In the city of Upleta of the Rajkot district in Gujarat, a 12-year-old-girl, who studies in class six, was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man. The man had allegedly befriended the survivor three months ago and since then has been stalking her.

The accused first stalked the survivor for some time and then tried. Once successful in striking a friendship, on December 15 he took the survivor to an isolated place, where the incident transpired. This took place when in the evening when the girl was on her way to the tuition.

On returning home at 9pm, which was later for her, the family enquired and the survivor revealed details on the incident. The same day, late at night, the family took the survivor to a police station and filed a complaint against the accused who the police has identified as Mukesh Baharhat.

A similar incident had taken place in Rajkot, where another minor girl was allegedly raped by a minor boy. According to the complaint registered at the Kuvadva Road police station, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 16-year-old boy.

The survivor is a resident of the Navagam area and had gone to buy detergent powder from a shop near her house. Since the shop was closed, the survivor went to the shopkeeper's house where she met the 16-year-old accused, who is the son of the shopkeeper.

According to the police report, the accused took the survivor inside the shop from the back entrance under the pretext of selling the detergent. Once inside, the accused allegedly tore the survivor's clothes and raped her.

The incident came to light when the survivor reached home in a state of shock and her mother prodded her on it further. The survivor revealed the incident to her mother and a complaint to the police was registered. On basis of the survivor's statement, the accused has been detained by the police.

In early November, another horrific rape case was unearthed. Three girls were allegedly raped by one man in a period of ten days. The 26-year-old accused was arrested in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for allegedly raping girls between ages three and seven. Read more here.
