Hrithiksha, daughter of a daily wage earner, Naveen Kumar T.R., made every possible effort to trace the lost phone. Despite several attempts, she continued to fail.

Kumar lodged a complaint with the Kushalnagar police stating that his wife’s mobile phone along with the SIM card was lost in the hospital she was admitted. He urged the authorities to trace it.

Hrithiksha reportedly started sending out letters to the hospital authorities, where the phone went missing. She sent letters to the Kodagu Deputy Commissioner, local legislators, and also posted them online. Soon after, the heartfelt plea went viral, the district administration intervened in the case. The administration asked the police and the Health Department to trace the phone, as per reports.

“The phone has memories of my mother. If anybody has taken it or anybody finds it, please return it to us,” Hrithiksha said in her appeal.

Three months later, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital under Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) handed over a smartphone to the Madikeri Police Station. They said that it was found in the hospital’s storeroom. The hospital officials wrote a letter to the police stating that the phone had pictures of Prabha and her daughter. The authorities confirmed that it was Hrithiksha's mother's phone.

As per reports, Superintendent of Police Kshama Mishra contacted Hrithiksha and handed over the phone.
